A thriving London suburb, Cockfosters nevertheless has something of a village feel, courtesy of Westpole Avenue. Here you will find a range of independent shops, including a delicatessen and fishmonger, as well as clothes boutiques. The ´village´ is also packed with restaurants and boasts a good old fashioned country pub. A variety of local and 24 hour supermarkets provide a variety of options for convenient shopping.
Cockfosters and nearby Southgate both offer an excellent range of independent and maintained schools for children of all ages – from first days at nursery right up to sixth form and A Level.
Trent Country Park’s meadows, brooks, lakes and ancient woodlands are home to muntjac deer, rabbits and pheasants and its architectural features including The Lodge and an obelisk. The semi-wild woodland of Nearby Monken Hadley Common is home to some unusual sculptures and links into the 10 mile Pymmes Brook Trail walk.
There’s no shortage of sporting and fitness facilities nearby, with football, hockey, cricket and rugby clubs to be found at Southgate’s Walker Ground. There are also two local leisure centres and the LA Fitness private members gym. Added to this are the 18 hole pay and play golf course, as well as a private members course to be found at Hadley Wood.
